About Tavronitis
Tavronitis is a peaceful and traditional working village with all-year round facilities including kafenions, bars, tavernas, bakery, mini-markets, newsagent, chemist, doctors and an excellent bus service. The village retains its authentic ambience and the friendly shopkeepers are happy to practice their English. The majestic peaks of the White Mountains provide a stunning backdrop to the verdant countryside surrounding the village.
The quiet beach, stretching for miles in either direction, is bordered by tamarisk trees and remains uncrowded even in the height of summer. Here you will find several tavernas where you can relax and enjoy your evening meal while watching the setting sun dip behind the Rodopou peninsula.
A few more facilities can be found in the nearby village of Kolymbari, well known for its harbour-side fish tavernas and just 5 km to the west. It also has a well-stocked supermarket and 3 banks, all with ATM machines. For a colorful display of locally grown fruit and vegetables visit the bustling Saturday market in Voukoulies, 7km inland.
